Tax Preparation & Planning
Individual, business, trust, and non-profit returns — filed accurately and planned for year-round, not just in April.

Overview
Tax law rarely stands still, and every filing season brings a fresh set of thresholds, credits, and reporting rules. Our tax practice exists to take that complexity off your desk and turn it into a clear plan you can act on.
We prepare returns for individuals, closely held businesses, partnerships, trusts, and non-profit organizations across southeastern and central Ohio. Just as importantly, we plan ahead — modeling entity elections, retirement contributions, depreciation strategy, and estimated payments before the year closes, when those decisions can still change your outcome.

Questions we're asked
Tax Preparation & Planning — frequently asked questions
When should I send my tax documents to SEO CPA Group?
As soon as your W-2s, 1099s, and K-1s arrive — typically late January through February. Earlier submissions get earlier review, and give us room to catch missing items before the deadline. If you need an extension, we file it and give you a paid-in estimate so you avoid interest.
Do you work with both my business and my personal return?
Yes, and we prefer it. Owner compensation, distributions, pass-through deductions, and retirement contributions all move between the two returns, so preparing them together generally produces a better result than treating them separately.
Can you help if I have already received an IRS letter?
Yes. We provide IRS and state representation, including responding to notices, reconstructing records, and negotiating payment arrangements. Send us the notice as soon as it arrives — most have a response window.
What does tax planning actually involve?
A planning engagement typically includes a mid-year and late-year projection, a review of entity structure, estimated payment scheduling, and a look at retirement and benefit plan options. The goal is to make decisions while the tax year is still open.
